Becoming Like Jesus

Two things crossed my path yesterday:

  1. A bumper sticker quoting Gandhi:  "I like your Christ.  I do not like your Christians.  Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
  2. This post on the "Out of Ur" blog by Dave Johnson.  Dave tells a compelling story from his childhood of a very churchy person who remained untransformed.  It’s worth the click.

It made me ask, "What would it take to turn Gandhi’s critique around?" Wouldn’t you love to hear, "I like your Christians.  If your Christ is anything like them, I would like him as well."

How do we become like Jesus?  Or even Naomi, for that matter?  How can the church move from informing people to transforming them?
